ARMLOAD
is a Data acquisition system designed for Cranes ( primarily
for offshore and overseas applications). The
system is based on micro-controller circuits which display vital
parameters such as Angle
or Radius and Maximum
Rated Load as per the crane’s load chart besides
displaying the Actual
load. A
load sensor
(load-cell) mounted on the boom tip senses the weight and
provides load data whereas an angle
sensor
assembly comprising of a digital encoder or a potentiometric
transducer senses the angle of the boom and provides angle
data. ARMLOAD
gives error indications, both audio
and visual, if
the value of the actual
load approaches the maximum
rated
load at a particular angle. Each error signal is defined as
a percentage of the maximum rated load. For example, the audio
indication can be activated at 90% and the visual indication can
be triggered at 95% of the rated load. To
disable the error indication, the crane operator must either increase
the angle of the boom or reduce
the actual load being lifted so that it reaches the permissible
safe value. This
ensures safety during normal crane operations; helps in preventing
accidents and loss of expensive cargo or invaluable human lives.
Armload
is housed in robust weather resistant enclosures made from
Stainless steel(316) and Aluminium; powder coated in Black or
dark Grey colours for aesthetic appeal. The parameters are displayed by bright Red seven segment LED displays which provide better visibility over a wide angle of viewing. The unit is provided with function keys for Tare & Reset ; calibration may be of software or hardware type. |
